openrouteservice is an open-source routing engine developed by HeiGIT that provides directions, isochrones, time-distance matrices, geocoding, and optimization services based on OpenStreetMap data. Written in Java and self-hostable via Docker, it also offers a free hosted API tier. SDKs are available for Python, R, and JavaScript, plus a QGIS plugin.
